Gintoki Sakata Gender:
About nine hundred years old. Looks to be late twenties, or early thirties.Personality:
Gin is quite laid back and lazy. Even though he is strong, he acts like a coward most of the time to avoid pointless fights. He likes sweet food and strawberry milk, and although he is on the verge of developing diabetes, he does not have diabetes yet. He believes that calcium is a source of great strength often saying things such as "Yes, calcium! If we have enough calcium, we can do anything!". Gintoki also seems to believe in the importance of having a loving family as he once admitted that having a loving family is all someone really needs in life due to the fact that he never had one himself.
Although he is always getting roughed up by women, he is protective and chivalrous towards them when serious. He can be quite fatherly towards his younger charges on occasions, though more often than not he is arguing with them. Though several females have shown an interest in Gintoki, he usually does not show any response back and merely puts up with them as annoyances.
Gintoki has a sweet tooth and obsession with sugary, sweet foods such as parfait, ice cream, strawberry milk and cake. However, Gintoki has been warned by 4th division to watch the sugar intake. Despite his appearance and initial behavior,
Gintoki has a great amount of pride for the old samurai ways. He takes it upon himself to rescue or avenge not only his comrades and friends but also people he barely knows. Despite being a fearsome fighter, he avoids needless bloodshed after suffering the loss of most of his friends and allies during the Arrancar war.
After getting stuck in the human world during the 5 year invasion, Gintoki's personality now occaisionally spazzes into a crazy, incoherent mess. He'll dissolve into a state of babbling, rambling insanity and attempt to kill anything in sight.AppearanceAppearance:

Sealed Zanpakutô :
To release his shikai, Gintoki sticks his blade arm out, thumb-up, with the blade facing vertically upward and his index finger extended like it's resting on a trigger, and then says the command. The zanpakuto will then shrink into its gun shape, another clump of reiatsu jumping to his other hand and doing the same.Shikai Abilities:
Gintoki's shikai is simplicity itself, in concept. The twin guns he wields while in shikai fire concentrated bolts of his reiatsu, traveling at about three times the speed of a normal bullet, and being able to rapid-fire, normal fire, or charge-fire. Each with varying power levels. However, the power of it goes deeper, still, as each bullet, on contact with the enemy's body, releases a spiritual "bug" of sorts into the enemy's skin wherever the bullet hit. The particular area where the bullet hit will start to tingle after one post. After two, it will begin to itch. Three posts, and it's burning. Four posts, and the burning feeling crescendos into a fiery hell of the skin. Fifth post, the fiery burn turns into a freezing cold, sixth post, the cold turns into a feeling like the limb in question just got sliced off. Seventh post, the feeling stops. This process follows every shot that hits the body.Release:
Drown them in despair, Chi No Ou!Bankai Description:
Bankai Name: Chi Ou No Maisou (Blood King's Burial)
To enter bankai, gintoki holds both pistols facing the ground. When he does this, and says bankai, his arms are engulfed by his reiatsu, the guns morphing into their bankai forms.Bankai Abilities:
Gintoki's bankai is relatively similar to his shikai. He can move his cannons surprisingly fast, and fire them with uncanny accuracy. His shots in this form, however, are five times as powerful, in each firing mode.
The effect of the shots, however, is different than in shikai. Instead of the stages of pain they cause in shikai, they have no special effects in bankai, save massive amounts of strength behind them to cause unnatural pain. Shadow Skull Arms:
Gintoki is able to produce black, skull-like arms out of his body. Using them to grab, support, lift, hold, defend, or attack. The arms themselves can defend up to a hado 88 in power, and they can punch/chop with the force of your average cero. Not so much for power as annoyance or diversion.Blood Cannon:
Gintoki can raise both arms up, facing them towards the opponent. He then charges this attack and fires two giant blasts of energy from the cannons that impact with the opponent, leaving behind a series of skull shaped smoke. The damage done by this is roughly one cero oscuras per cannon. Meaning a double dose of ouch.BackgroundHistory/Background:
Gintoki was originally born in a small village in the country of England, he didn’t really fit in there though as there weren’t many kids about and even less that seemed to have what he called 'the sight' which was his ability to see spirits. He had spent most of his childhood trying to fit in with the few other kids there were but he simply didn’t for reasons he didn’t know. Gintoki would often spend evenings alone or with his mother, his father had died just before he was born or so he was told. Gintoki had to either walk or get dropped off on a buggy to go to school as the closest school was ten miles away from his village. On the occasions he walked he would have to get up at three in the morning just to make it on time, however he didn’t complain, he just said it was good exercise and allowed him to clear his head of any problems he was having. Gintoki had started to hear the voices in his head by this point but they were just whispers to him, however they did often give him headaches. Gintoki was very unpopular in school, often getting teased by the other kids who were better off and lived a lot closer by living in the town where the school was. He didn’t really care though, he kept to himself mostly and spent his breaks in the library, and it was no surprise that by the end of his first few years in school he was already at the top of his class and even the class above his. It made him extremely happy to think that he was achieving something and that all the hard work he was putting in was paying off. Gintoki was now getting physically beaten at school, not only was he a country person who was apparently not good enough to go to that school but he was better than those that apparently did belong there. He then started to take self defense classes and learnt how to use some weapons which had been kept in his village for sentimental reasons to specific people in the village such as the post woman and the man who worked in the bar. He had set his mind to making sure that he wasn’t picked on for being 'out of place' again by those people at his school.
Gintoki started having horrible nightmares, the visions he saw while he was awake became clearer and he was even seeing things that he didn’t know what they were. They were huge monster type creatures with white masks and the voices he could hear were starting to tap into this fear, trying to make him lose control of himself. Gintoki was managing to keep himself calm and in control, even when he was getting beaten at school, he wouldn’t just let this go though, all he was waiting for was the right time. Gintoki was becoming even more confident in himself, not only was he still getting the best grades, not only in his class and the class above now but the whole school, but he was also physically fit enough to not be too injured from the beatings he received and was even starting to frighten some of the ones who were doing it to him till they stopped. Things seemed to be looking up for him and he knew something big was going to happen soon, he just assumed it was good but it didn’t turn out that way. Gintoki was getting used to his daily routine to such a degree that most of it would pass in just a blur and his muscle memory would do it all for him. He would wake up before the sun had come up, get dressed and ready before walking to school in the predawn until the sun rose over the horizon. He would walk into the school, get surrounded by the people who hated him but were still not afraid of him and teased, they would beat him up a little later in the day after the register had been called. He would walk into the school entrance and up the stairs to his class but this is where things started to go horribly wrong for him today.
As the door to his classroom swung open, his vision blurred and suddenly all he could see over everything was blood. He didn’t know what he was seeing or if it was even real or just his sight playing tricks on him but it freaked him out. He shouted out loud, to much laughing from the other students nearby, before he was forced inside by the rest of them to start the day's learning. He couldn’t concentrate, all he could see was blood, dripping from every surface and for the first time since he started spending so much time in the library he couldn’t answer a single question. The teasing that day was worse than ever before, the other students just couldn’t see what he could and didn’t understand what was going on in his head. They all just thought of him as the stupid country kid again and they were determined to make him feel that way, Gintoki was finding it hard keeping his emotions in check, he was getting frustrated and it was becoming harder and harder to control it. The voices he could hear were winning over him this time, everything was spiralling out of control, he knew he was soon going to just snap and he wasn’t looking forward to that. Gintoki made it through another lesson, the walls still dripping with blood but now he suspected that it was something in his head trying to make him lose it. A noise could be heard from outside, a horrible screaming noise which sent a chill up his spine but no one else seemed to be able to hear it. He chanced a look out the window but couldn’t see anything to begin with, suddenly the windows smashed and a dark creature with a white mask leapt through, crushing several of the other students in the process. He was frightened and none of the other people there could even see what it was that was scaring him. Gintoki couldn’t even control his own body anymore, he had lost all control of himself, not to the voices but to his own fear. He started to run and didn’t look back, he could hear the screams of the other students and the scream of that horrible monster. All he wanted now was to get as far away from here as he could, as he ran down the stairs, the voices finally managed to take control if only for a second, causing him to trip, rolling down the stairs, out the window and on to the fence below, He had died from a moment of weakness inside him and he knew it as he drew his last breath.
Gintoki awoke from what he thought was a horrible dream in a cold and empty street in the middle of the night. He didn’t know where he was or how he got there but knew that he had to get home. Looking down he saw the chain of fate attached to his chest and became worried when he couldn’t remove it, he hoped that someone would be able to explain things to him as he walked down the street and to where he hoped home would be. It didn’t take him long to realise that he didn’t feel tired or hungry anymore but he was more occupied with trying to get home than the problems he was having, he just had to get home. After a few hours of walking, he finally came to a place he recognised, he was back at his school. Something inside him made him want to check out the school, walking round absent minded, He ended up standing in front of the window he had fallen out of. The glass from the window had been swept away but the window was still broken, looking down he saw the fence he had landed on, blood coating its bent frame in the moonlight. He was hoping it was just a coincidence but he already knew the truth he was just unwilling to admit it to himself without someone else telling him, how could he be dead? Gintoki started walking home in the dark, still night, the stars overhead seemed to shimmer and fade with every step he took towards where he wanted to be most. He could hear frightening noises in the dark which he hoped were just figments of his imagination. His walking started to get faster as his determination to get home increased, he wanted to get home, had to get home. This thought kept bouncing around in his head until his feet were now carrying him home faster than he had ever gone before, the world was just a blur of darkness to him now, he couldn’t even see the stars with his determination being so strong. Eventually Gintoki got to his village and he could feel something in the streets, the village was very sombre as he walked down the candle lit street. Reaching his house, he looked in the window and saw his mother crying in front of the fireplace, in that instant, he knew that what he had been denying was true, she wouldn’t be crying for no reason and she was a strong person to the point where only the worst things could break her. He stumbled backwards as his mind reeled in the horror of what had happened, that was when he heard the horrible screaming yet again and Gintoki knew that it was close, coming for him.
He couldn’t tell where it was coming from, it sounded as if it where all around him and yet not there at all at the same time. Looking up he saw the shadow of the beast against the dark night sky, its masked face looking down at him, hungry for what it had come for earlier. Gintoki could only think of one thing, to run anywhere he could and get away from this thing before it could do anymore damage, he just hoped that he could get away. Gintoki started to stumble as his body started to move almost as if on its own, reacting to the basic instincts of wanting to stay alive, tripping over things that didn’t seem to be there. He fell on his face, looking up he saw the huge mass of the creature, the Hollow he later found out. Just as it opened its mouth and screamed once more, there was a flash, and explosion of energy and something collided with the Hollow. Looking round, He saw that someone stood there, hand out, sword in the other hand and wearing a black Shihakusho, something about them being here just made Gintoki feel safer. In the blink of the eye, the person had disappeared and the Hollow was screaming once again but this time in pain and it was cut into pieces before seemingly disintegrating into the air. Gintoki didn’t fully understand what had just happened but he knew one thing, he owed the person in the Shihakusho his life, or his afterlife in any case. Before Gintoki could ask him any questions however, the man raised his sword, Gintoki thought he was going to be struck down until he felt something blunt touch his head. He was then filled with a strange warmth and a feeling of floating as he was given a Konso. Blinking in the new light which was rather bright, Gintoki appeared in the 30th sector of the rukon district, confused about where he was, he started to ask around.
Gintoki had died at the age of sixteen, what a horrible time to die, he thought, but he came across younger people who had also died and he felt sorry for them. It didn’t take long for him to understand what had happened to him and accept the fact that he was where he was. Gintoki was also quickly taken in, he had a younger sister now, and a father which he had never had before. His life seemed to simmer down into something of a normality, at least for awhile until he started to ask more questions about how things worked and he understood everything that they had to tell him about his new home. Gintoki soon learnt that who had saved him was a Shinigami and that what he had been saved from was a Hollow, at first he didn’t understand but after thinking about it and having it be explained again he understood mostly what they were on about. Gintoki then started questions about what Shinigami did and before he knew it he had an idealised fascination with them. He vowed to join them when he could and help them in whatever way he could in order to allow them to keep the balance and stop more people falling victim to these Hollow attacks which were apparently rather common. He already knew that he had at least some spiritual power given that he could see the Hollows even when he was alive so the next thing he had to do was train it and learn how to focus that energy. He started to train down by the river every day, the water allowed him to focus better, until he could successfully form an aura of spirit energy, however doing that tired him immensely to begin with. It was then that he realised he wasn’t all too sure about how he was actually supposed to become a Shinigami, this is when his questioning began anew. Gintoki learnt from one of the other people who had been wanting to become a Shinigami about the academy where they would have to go and train to become Shinigami. Gintoki continued to question this other applicant until he knew everything that they knew, it was going to be harder than he thought but he knew he had to keep going. He spent even more time training himself until he felt that he was ready to be tested to see if he could get into the academy. On his first attempt, he managed to make it into the advanced class, where once again he was treated as an outsider just like he had been treated when alive, just with less beatings.
Gintoki seemed to push forwards and get better the more he was teased by the others in the class, eventually he managed to get most of them to at least respect him enough to leave him alone. He tended to be average at most things but he couldn’t grasp Kido very well, however his high test scored and just above average sword fighting skills managed to keep him ahead of most of the other students. He managed to complete the academy by the end of his fifth year of attending and was ecstatic because he had heard that he had finished one year ahead of normal. Gintoki was then taken straight from the academy into the fourth squad for a short while, they thought that his personality seemed to fit but after only a few years he was transferred because he wasn’t all that good at what he was supposed to be in the fourth squad. With that, he was transfered to the twelfth squad. Gintoki managed to get along with the people in the twelfth squad, making fast friends with at least some of them and knowing complete trust with most the others.
It took only another year for Gintoki to learn shikai, and get promoted to fourth seat. After that, there was about ten years of melancholy as Gintoki trained and such, but he wasn't assigned any missions during this time. Near the end of his training, Gintoki managed to summon his zanpakuto spirit into the real world, training with him for two weeks straight until his bankai was finally achieved. With that, Gintoki was given permission to take the captain qualification exam, and passed every section with top marks. His research was highly praised, as was his scientific ability. The newly elected captain of twelfth division, Gintoki Sakata, was determined to leave his mark on soul society. He was determined to protect.Extra Abilites:
- Master Strategist
- Researcher and Scientist Extraordinare
- High Intelligence
- Modified Body:
Gintoki's insanity and his position as head of research have both led him to modify his own body, making himself immune to natural poisons. He can also detach certain limbs, as they are made to be replacable, or have been outfitted with various attachments, much like the former head of R&D, Kurotsuchi Mayuri.
Using specialized motors, reiatsu blasters, and magnets in the legs of his modified body, Gintoki can levitate into the air, whether sitting or standing, and float around.
